Rosenborg Castle
 Rosenborg Castle - Historic Talks
Christian IV’s pleasure pavilion houses today some of the most potent symbols of Denmark’s national history such as the regalia and the Crown Jewels. Also, the castle houses The Danish Royal Collection, a collection of extreme wealth presenting 500 years of royal patronage and collecting.
The tour will present the castle, its fascinating history and rich collections. The time around Christian IV will be presented in the Winter Room and the King’s bedchamber. The tour continues in the Long Hall where the thrones are kept surrounded by the famous silver lions. The tour will end in the Treasury looking at the regalia and Crown Jewels.
The tour will thus show some of the most important symbols of royal history of Denmark.

The Amalienborg Museum

As an extension to The Royal Danish Collection and the collection and historical interiors at Rosenborg Castle, you will find the Amalienborg Museum in Christian VIII’s Palace at Amalienborg.
The tour will present what is daily referred to as the Kings studies. The visitor will be taken on a tour in time and introduced to a very intimate world of royal daily life through a period from the 1860’s till the early 1970’s, from Christian IX (1863-1906) to Frederik IX (1947-1972).
The studies are reconstructed and put on display as they have been used and lived in by the individual sovereign. They demonstrate thus an extreme degree of authenticity and the tour will be a fascinating walk in national history and royal intimacy.

The Abildgaard Rooms

After the royal family took over the Amalienborg mansions after the fire of Christiansborg Palace in 1794, each generation of the family got their own mansion. The Heir Presumptive Frederik moved into the former Levetzau’s mansion. He immediately launched a major transformation of the mansion and it was ready and newly furnished around 1798.
The artistic leader of the massive works carried out was the painter Nikolai Abraham Abildgaard who created one of the most modern homes in the kingdom.
The State Rooms in the palace, known daily as Christian VIII’s Palace, were thoroughly restored in the 1990s and present in an exemplary manner some of the most stylish neoclassical interior in the country. The rooms are today used by TRH Prince Joachim and Princess Marie, and HRH Princess Benedikte.
The tour will take the visitor through the Heir Presumptive Frederik’s and Nikolai A. Abildgaard’s wonderfully restored State Rooms and round up in the gothic reference library of Queen Caroline Amalia, the daughter-in-law of the Heir Presumptive.

Christian VII’s Palace

When Court Architect Nikolai Eigtved planned the four Amalienborg mansions, one of the invariable demands was identical facades. Thus the true nature of order and stability of the absolute monarchy would be echoed.
As identical the facades became, as equally different the interiors turned out to be. It quickly became a fact that the mansion of the Lord Chamberlain, Count Adam Gottlob Moltke, beyond far surpassed the three others with its exceptionally rich and splendid interiors. To some extent, it is fortunately still that way today.
The State Rooms at the Palace form a unique range of sublime interiors and present some of the most stylish rococo ever made in Europe.
The Palace, daily referred to as Christian VII’s Palace, is used for receptions and parties by HM The Queen and was re-inaugurated in 1996 after years of meticulous restoration.
The tour will take the visitor through 12 magnificent State Rooms including the splendid Great Hall which frames the New Year’s Ball given by the Queen every year, and the extraordinary Rose room with the fabulous Flora Danica porcelain from 1790.

Ledreborg

In 1739, the later Count and Prime Minister to Christian VI, Johan Ludvig von Holstein, purchased an old estate from the 1660’s named Lejregaard.
The following ten years were spent expanding and transforming Lejregaard into one of Scandinavia’s most elegant estates. Roughly put, 1750 saw the completion of the layout of the estate which received the name of Ledreborg and Johan Ludvig von Holstein was granted with the title of Count Holstein-Ledreborg by King Frederik V. Thus house and owner had found their place.
Today Ledreborg is still owned and lived in by the Holstein-Ledreborg family and the tour will take the visitor through the very well preserved State Rooms and Chapel. The tour presents what can justly be characterized as one of the most perfect and stylish examples of estates from the 18th century in Denmark.

Frederiksborg Castle

With very big ambitions, Christian IV decided to enlarge the modest estate of Hillerødsholm inherited from his father to transform it into one of Scandinavia’s most splendid and imposing royal residences with an almost ostentatious interior.
The lavish interiors were, however, almost completely destroyed in a disastrous fire in 1859 but afterwards restored and the palace was opened to the public in 1882 as a museum of national history financed by the Carlsberg Foundation.
The palaces three main wings put into perspective the history of Denmark told and materialized by the rich collection of paintings, furniture and objets d’art. The tour will guide the visitor through what is left from the time of Christian IV and the palace church and continue the history and round up around 1800.
Any particular historical aspect of the visitor might be fitted in.
By request, the baroque garden can be included in the tour.

Lindencrones mansion
 Lindencrone's Mansion - Historic Talks
An important mansion of the Frederik’s City, Frederiksstaden, Lindencrone’s marks the corner of Bredgade and St. Annæ Plads.
Court Architect Nicolai Eigtved had designed the building and the builder was the commoner Christen Jensen Lintrup, who made a career and earned a huge fortune in trade and who was ennobled under the name of Lindencrone in 1756.
The mansion was erected from 1751-1753 and was from day one a particularly important building since it was to mark the transition between the old city and the new Frederik’s City. The fact that the mansion was constructed in chalk in contrast to the other mansions in sandstone only lifted the spirits around the building.
Lindencrone’s mansion was purchased by the Bestseller Foundation in 2003 and has been restored very respectfully since.
The tour will present the history of the mansion and show the two main floors and their beautiful interiors. In the same time the tour will demonstrate how a major Danish production firm is operating in an 18th century mansion.
